Examples Of My Work
In each of my sessions, there is a specific goal that I want to achieve with the student. The first session is the assessment where I go over the student’s specific goals, what to expect in class and how I conduct my class. I will send a written copy outlining this after our first trial class. From the second meeting on, we begin each class with a review of the homework and any difficult content from our previous class. ONE-ON-ONE LESSONS
Customized Lessons to Fit Your Needs
Class will be conducted similar to the outline below. It is not this rigid but it will make it easier to get everything done using this schedule.
Conversation style:
10 minutes: How are you? New words - definitions and pronunciation, tongue twisters, idioms etc. Anything you had trouble with in the previous class will be reviewed at this time. Homework review.
40 minutes: Question and answer. The goal is to get a 'normal' conversation flowing. This will put pressure on you to carry the conversation forward. Do not rely on me to do this, I will help but there may be moments I will wait and see if you can add more to the conversation.
10 minutes: At the very end of class I will ask you how you felt about class - what do you want changed? Was it too easy/hard? How are you feeling? etc.
Article/TEDtalk class:
10 minutes: How are you? New words - definitions and pronunciation, tongue twisters, idioms etc. Anything you had trouble with in the previous class will be reviewed at this time. Homework review.
5 minutes: Briefly summarize the article/video being as concise as possible using your own words.
5 minutes: What words/phrases did you find difficult in the article
40 minutes: Discussion of article topic, express your opinion in a well thought out manner using proper grammar and, if you can, a high level vocabulary (push yourself to use new words).
Business focused classes:
5 minutes: review work from previous class if necessary
30 minutes: discuss hand out/power point.
25 minutes: practice, homework review etc.
These business classes will focus on topics such as, "I" language, formal and informal phrases and words, how to present, proper customer service greetings, phone etiquette and human resource development.
After a students weekly class they will receive an email that lists all suggestions I made
GROUP LESSONS
Personalized Attention
All students in this class will have received the same article and must prepare questions for other students before class. We will begin with a summary of the article and any questions each student may have. I will then ask each student to articulate their opinion on the topic and I will ask the first question to each student. After this it is encouraged for the students to chime in when they are curious or when their questions become relevant. The goal of this class is to build confidence by speaking with others in English. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to share vocabulary and hear different ways to use English.
After class each student will receive individual feedback in an email. If students have any questions about their feedback or wants extra work they are encouraged to email me to clarify!

I know how difficult it can be to find a reliable teacher that focuses on Test Prep. Teachers need to be able to motivate and guide students to success. As an experienced ESL Tutor, I can identify students’ problem areas and work with them in a positive, constructive way to achieve success. I design my lessons according to my students’ needs, with an emphasis on confidence-boosting activities.
Interview preparation can be nerve wracking and tedious. It is my goal to help you focus on questions that you may struggle answering. I will help bring attention to your body language, eye contact, and pronunciation. I will mimic a real interview and provide full feedback both verbally and in an email. I will send this feedback before the next day to give you time to study, even if the interview is in 24 hours.
